Solar Drier

Using the sun to dry crops and grain is one of the oldest and most widely used applications of solar energy. Solar dryers protect grain and fruits and vegetables, reduce losses, dry faster and more uniformly, and produce a better quality product than open-air methods. 

Solar dryers can be used in agriculture for food, crop and herbs drying, for industrial drying process, dryers have been proved to be the most useful device from energy conservation point of view. It not only save energy but also save lot of time, occupying less area, improves quality of the product, makes the process more efficient and protects environment also. Solar dryers circumvent some of the major disadvantages of classical drying. Solar drying can be used for the entire drying process or for supplementing artificial drying systems, thus reducing the total amount of fuel energy required. 

Solar driers are cheap, easy to construct from locally available materials and less labor intensive. 

The basic components of a solar dryer are an enclosure or shed, screened drying trays or racks, and a solar collector. 

Solar driers represent an affordable opportunity for local households, particularly for a good income generation source by drying and selling the products at prices much higher than raw products. It also provides opportunities for gaining incomes year round-as the dried products can be stored and sold by parts.
