ENPARD closing ceremony held in Georgian wine chamber

Non-governmental organization Rural Communities Development Agency, in the framework of the European Neighborhood Program for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD) and EC funded project “Supporting Agricultural Co-operation in Georgia” held project closure and handover ceremony event on December 27, 2017, where ENPARD first phase (2014-2017) results and all supported cooperatives in Mtskheta-Mtianeti region had been presented.

The event was opened by the director of RCDA – Rostom Gamisonia, Governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti – Levan Zautashvili, The Head of Agricultural Cooperative Development Agency - Giorgi Misheladze and Oxfam Georgia ENPARD program Manager – Levan Dadiani. It was also attended by representatives of project partner organizations, local municipalities and local and international NGOs.

With EU financing and grant schemes, ENPARD implementing partners have assisted the cooperatives by purchasing assets, providing intensive technical support via onsite trainings and expertise, as well as helped in market linkages for purchasing inputs and selling outputs. Around 8000 farmers across Georgia have been trained and improved their skills in farming and business management. Additionally, over 1000 cooperatives have received a total of GEL 6 million in grants through state aid programs, supported by the EU.

EU supported cooperatives gallery was organized at the event, where participants could observe the program’s results on the level of each beneficiary cooperative. The guests had opportunity to interact with beneficiary farmers directly and get familiar with their products and services.
